Netanya AACI is delighted to welcome back the talented musician Gila Perach who, together with cellist Hannah Blachman will present their second program called "On the Vienna to Venice Train". It will include historical commentary by historian Arthur Hirsh, musical commentary by Gila Perach and present music for solo piano by Scarlatti, and works of Vivaldi, Schubert and Rossini performed on the cello and piano.
Gila Perach studied piano and theory at Manhattan School of Music and then spent two years in Paris studying composition with the famed Nadia Boulanger and piano with Gaby Casadesus. In 1978 she entered the prestigious Academy of Music in Vienna, where she made her home for the next 38 years. She enjoyed a varied career of composing and performing music, as well as lecturing, writing and teaching the subject. This period included a five-year stint at the Vienna State Opera and one year at the Vienna Light Lyric Opera. Since making Aliyah two years ago, Gila has continued to present concerts in a lecture-cum-recital format.
Hannah Blachman has lived in Israel for 30 years. She is a freelance cellist, pianist for the Cantacappella Choir and teaches music both privately and at the Arava Cultural Center in Sapir. She has performed with the Israel Sinfonietta Beer-Sheva and the Ashdod Symphony Orchestra.
