After all\, there is no pressure to look for schools for your children\, you don’t need to find a job\, you even get additional subsidies; all of which provide you with the freedom to settle into and explore your new home at your leisure. This premise is not totally accurate. \nMiriam Naiman\, who has specialized in integration and absorption for new Olim since 2005\, will address the unique emotional challenges that older Olim face by leaving their friends\, family and support networks\, trying to navigate in a new culture\, often unfamiliar with Hebrew\, societal norms\, public transportation and so much more. DESCRIPTION:Annual Debate \nHas the UN Outlived its Usefulness?   The proposal is: This house believes that Israel should terminate its membership in the United Nations. \nModerator: Jake Shepherd \nDebaters: Paulette Woolf and Barry Shaw \n19:30 Tuesday 11 November \n At Netanya AACI we have an obligation to familiarise our members with the intricacies of the political environment. Therefore\, we are pleased to announce that we are hosting a debate that you will not want to miss. \nDebate is an intellectual exercise and an essential tool for maintaining democracy and an open society. Through debate\, Netanya AACI aims to promote tolerance for divergent points of view in a forum where controversial issues will be examined through civil discourse. \nJake Shepherd\, Moderator: Jake is a lifelong learner whose interest spans many subjects from philosophy to philately with a special interest in human psychology and organisational culture. He is currently enrolled at the Peterson Academy where he is doing courses on Nietzsche\, Nutrition and the Intersection of Intelligence\, Rationality\, Wisdom and Spirituality. Jake graduated from Wits as an Electrical Engineer and founded a software development company\, Synthesis\, before making Aliyah to Israel in 2022. \nPaulette Woolf\, Debater: Paulette served for 20 years in a number of senior capacities at the United Nations. In addition to her position as Director of Management Audit\, she successfully established and managed a global internal management consulting function. As part of her responsibilities\, she was required to submit reports and testify to the General Assembly on the results of her audits and consultancies. Paulette is a former Co-Chair of Netanya AACI where she served from 2020-2024. She made Aliyah to Netanya with her husband David in 2016. \nBarry Shaw\, Debater:  Barry is Strategic Affairs Associate at the Israel Institute for Strategic Studies. He is the author of several books including Fighting Hamas\, BDS & Antisemitism and Israel Reclaiming The Narrative.
