Folk Club with Rahel Limor
19:30 Thursday 15 February
Calling all folk musicians and fans!
Join us for our monthly musical gathering with a mix of local and visiting performers.
In her own words, “Music, for me, has been a gateway to experiencing life and cultures from around the world. I particularly enjoy house concerts, open air markets and street singing because I can meet and mingle with extraordinary people.”
Rahel made Aliyah in 1976 from Boston and immediately became an integral member of Israel’s budding folk music community. She performed in duos, trios, with the “Jerusalem Folk” Bluegrass band and worked as a musician at the Train Theater in Jerusalem. She also acted in and produced original children’s theater productions. She is a founding member of the all-woman band, “Tofa’ah”, the “Tof Miriam” organization in support of women musicians in Israel, and the Israeli branch of the “Listen Like Learn/Your Baby Needs Music Association.”
An award-winning singer-songwriter, Rahel performed annually for two decades at the Jacob’s Ladder International Folk Festival and in popular venues throughout Israel. She has toured and recorded worldwide including a collaborative tour in South Africa and in Israel with the traditional a cappella singing group “Amavevane Acapella” from Zimbabwe with whom she co-founded “The Healing Light Project” sharing cultures and traditions through music. Most recently, Rahel performed in “Mikvah the Musical”, a profound account of women’s experiences in the mikvah.
Rahel lived in South Korea for four years where she worked as an actor, model, musician and English language vocal coach. You can see her in a number of Korean movies, dramas, commercials and advertisements. Rahel’s current projects include a music and dance creation of “Tikkun”; verses from Rebbe Nachman’s “Tikkun HaKlali”, and a musical production of a rare collection of children’s rhymes by Israel’s beloved poet, Rahel.
Rahel is a Certified Clinical Musician (CCM) serving in hospice, senior facilities, hospitals and alternative health centers. As a Certified Life Coach (AAPC) she supports and facilitates achieving one’s life goals and dreams.
Rahel‘s favorite job today is being “Gamma” to her first granddaughter, Noga.
