1791–Mozart’s Last Year

Music lecture: Harvey Bordowitz

7.30pm Monday 25 October

All attendees must have a Green Pass or evidence of a negative COVID test within the prior 72 hours.

Harvey Bordowitz has been esteemed as one of this country’s most innovative and creative conductors and music directors and has guest-conducted orchestras throughout the world. For over 40 years he has lectured in both Hebrew and English on a vast range of musical topics, with humor, erudition and a deep love of music.

For those of you not familiar with Harvey’s music lectures, you’re in for a real treat as Harvey shares with us his depth of musical knowledge illustrated with his handpicked musical excerpts.

Harvey’s program focuses on Mozart’s 36th year – the last of his tragically short life – a year which saw an astonishing burst of activity, including some of his greatest compositions.  In 1791, at the very peak of his creative powers, he wrote such immortal works as the clarinet concerto and his last piano concerto, the sublime opera “The Magic Flute”, and the shattering Requiem, which he composed as he lay dying.

In 1791 Mozart left us a legacy that will live forever.
