NETANYA’S KIDS NEED YOU!
English Tutors Meeting
10:00 Monday 7 October
English Without Borders is a volunteer tutoring programme designed to help local children and youth feel confident in their use of conversational English. We have tutors in many different schools in Netanya.
We invite you to join our group of devoted volunteers. Be a part of the fun and help meet the needs of our youth. It is the perfect project for English speakers to give back to Israeli society.
A commitment of approximately two hours per week is required. No Hebrew required.
Open introductory meeting: 10:00 Monday 7 October

Netanya AACI English Tutoring Project Coordinators
Volunteer Tutors in Over 15 Netanya Schools
Devora and Shimon Vogel are the poster children for the success of the 2023-24 AACI English tutoring project. They volunteered at Uziel elementary school including the end of year English Day.
More than 25 volunteers were placed in about 15 elementary and secondary schools throughout Netanya including some AACI volunteers who have returned to the project year after year.
The project started in the shade of the October 7th war but by December was off and running. By the end of the school year and over the summer, some tutors were working with displaced pupils from Kiryat Shmona, Kibbutz Alumim and other distressed locations.
Renée Rosenberg, a retired Netanya school teacher, is the dedicated co-ordinator of the tutoring project. She made countless phone calls and school visits in order to connect English teachers and school principals to our volunteers most of whom hope to return next year. While I assisted Renée, I also learned from her through her model of patience, acceptance and commitment. By the end of the year Renée was even one of the volunteers working with evacuees at Shai Agnon school.
Netanya AACI will be happy to welcome new tutors when we open the programme for 2024-25 at our meeting in October. The minimal volunteer commitment is about two hours once a week at the school although some of our volunteers are so satisfied that they choose to tutor more than once a week. Most of the volunteers are pensioners who might have travel or medical obligations during the school year and the schoolteachers are very understanding about absences.
Come to our opening meeting to find out more. It’s scheduled for Monday 7 October at 10:00. Or send a WhatsApp message to me at 052-849-6116 or Renée at O54-433-9470. Or leave your name and phone number at Netanya AACI front desk with a message for us.
