A Yom HaShoah Lecture
Presented by: Max Van Dam
19:30 Thursday 2 May
Programme in person and on Zoom
Max van Dam was born in 1939 in Amsterdam. Orphaned by the Holocaust, he was raised by foster parents. Max portrays the poor treatment by the Dutch of the Jewish community, culminating in the high percentage of Jews murdered during the Holocaust. In 1940, 140,000 Jews lived
in The Netherlands. By 1945, 35,000 remained.
He will also describe his own experiences in The Netherlands, during and after the War. After making Aliyah in 1997, he began researching the genealogy of his and other Dutch families. Incredibly, the database has grown to 190,000 individuals.
