SUMMARY:POSTPONED - Tiyul - Fighting for the State
DESCRIPTION:Tiyul – Fighting for the State\nThursday 16 April \nOur trip will begin at the Lechi Museum\, offering an introduction to one of the most controversial and determined underground movements during the British Mandate period. Through documents\, photographs\, and personal testimonies\, we will explore Lechi’s ideology\, methods\, and the difficult moral choices its members faced while fighting for Jewish independence. This visit will encourage discussion about radical resistance\, political vision\, and the complexity of historical judgment. \nAfter enjoying your packed lunch\, we will then continue to the Palmach Museum in Tel Aviv\, where the story expands to a broader collective experience. The museum’s immersive design and multimedia exhibits will place us alongside young Palmach fighters\, highlighting their daily lives\, training\, and role in the War of Independence. By encountering both movements in this order\, we will gain a deeper and more balanced understanding of the different paths taken toward the same goal. Together\, these visits will strengthen our appreciation of courage\, sacrifice\, and the foundations of modern Israeli society. \nMembers NIS 185 \nNon-members NIS 215 \nDepart heading south\, first pick-up:\nYoung Israel 09:55\nReturn: approx. 17:15 \nPurchase tickets below or call the box office 09-8330950 (Sunday-Thursday 8:30-12:30). Registration closes two days prior to the event. Call the box office after that to determine if there is space available. \nCall the box office to let them know your pick-up point.

SUMMARY:Tiyul - Power and Water
DESCRIPTION:Tiyul – Power and Water\nNEW DATE: Tuesday  3 February \n(postponed from 29 January) \nRegistration closes Thursday 29 January at noon \nOn this trip\, we will offer a valuable opportunity to explore two of the country’s most important infrastructure sites: the Israel Electricity Company Hadera Power Station located in Hadera and the “Eshkol” Mekorot National Water Company of Israel located in Beit Netofa Valley. \nAt the Hadera Power Station\, we will learn how electricity is produced on a large scale and how advanced technologies help ensure a reliable energy supply. The visit will explain how power stations operate\, how fuel is converted into electrical energy\, and how environmental challenges are addressed through modern efficiency and safety measures. \nWe will take a break for lunch on the way to our second stop where you will be able to either buy lunch from one of many Kosher eateries there or bring your own packed lunch. \nThe visit to the “Eshkol” Mekorot site will focus on water treatment and distribution\, one of Israel’s greatest achievements. We will observe how water from natural sources is filtered\, purified\, tested\, and delivered safely to homes\, agriculture\, and industry. This experience will emphasize the importance of innovation\, conservation\, and sustainability in managing scarce water resources. \nTogether\, these visits will demonstrate how energy and water systems are closely connected and essential for national growth\, environmental responsibility\, and quality of life. \nMembers NIS 120 \nNon-members NIS 150 \nDepart heading north\, first pick-up: Tennis Courts at 09:50\nReturn: approx. 18:00\n________________________________________ \nTickets available below or call the box office 09-8330950. SUMMARY:Tiyul - Foreign Roots
DESCRIPTION:Tiyul – Foreign Roots\nThursday 4 December \nOur first stop is at the Babylonian Jewry Heritage Centre in Or Yehuda where you will walk through galleries tracing more than 2\,600 years of Jewish presence in Mesopotamia\, from exile to the great academies of Sura and Pumbedita\, through rabbinic culture\, and ultimately to the mass immigration of Iraqi Jews to Israel. The museum brings to life daily customs\, religious practices\, material artifacts\, clothing\, and folk culture. You’ll also see reconstructions of a Baghdad street and a synagogue courtyard\, giving a sense of architecture and lived space. The research centre and archive sections hold manuscripts\, photographs\, oral histories\, and family trees. \nWe will next travel a short distance to the Libyan Jewish Heritage Centre\, which preserves the heritage of Libyan Jews. It offers a powerful and personal reflection of a community that endured pogroms (especially in 1945\, 1948\, 1967) and eventual expulsion. Displays include ritual objects\, Judaica made of metal\, wood\, leather\, as well as photographs and testimony\, and a reconstructed “hara” (Jewish quarter market) in Tripoli. A memorial hall lists the names of those lost and documents the struggles endured by the Libyan Jewish community. \nTogether\, these two centres will offer you not only a survey of historical epochs\, but a vivid portrait of personal lives\, resilience\, displacement\, and cultural continuity\, even when communities are forced to leave their homelands. \nMembers NIS 190 Non-Members NIS 220\nDepart heading south\, first pick-up:\nYoung Israel 08:40\nReturn: approx. 16:00 \nTickets available below or call the box office 09-8330950. Reservations necessary. Online ticketing ends 27 November. Call the box office after that to enquire about availability. \nPlease call the box office to let them know your pick-up point.
