Educated in London Israel and New York, Elkan D Levy has filled a number of communal offices in British Jewry including President of the United Synagogue, Minister of both Belmont and Radlett synagogues, and Minister for Small Communities. He chaired the committee that produced the latest edition of the Singer’s Prayer book, the standard Siddur of Anglo Jewry, which has developed into the whole series of Koren-Sacks Siddurim and Machzorim.
Elkan made Aliyah to Israel in 2011 and lives in Netanya. By profession Elkan was a Solicitor in private practice for 30 years. In his spare time he is keenly interested in History, Freemasonry, and Railways, on all of which he lectures. He believes passionately in the unity of the Jewish people, and the religious imperative of speaking to all Jews, of all levels of observance and none.
