From Sunspots to the Heliosphere: Why Our Sun Matters to Us
Harley Zipori
19:30 Tuesday 28 January
It rises in the morning and sets every evening. Most of us never give it much thought but the Sun keeps us alive while at the same time posing a danger to our existence. Join us as we take a journey from the center of the Sun out to the edge of the solar system as we discover what the Sun is made of and what powers it, how it was formed and how it will die, and how it affects our daily lives and at times poses threats to our world.
We will hear about solar flares, space weather, sunspots, the solar corona, the heliosphere, and the scientists around the world who study and monitor the Sun and help protect our civilization.
