Tiyul – Fighting for the State
Thursday 16 April
Our trip will begin at the Lechi Museum, offering an introduction to one of the most controversial and determined underground movements during the British Mandate period. Through documents, photographs, and personal testimonies, we will explore Lechi’s ideology, methods, and the difficult moral choices its members faced while fighting for Jewish independence. This visit will encourage discussion about radical resistance, political vision, and the complexity of historical judgment.
After enjoying your packed lunch, we will then continue to the Palmach Museum in Tel Aviv, where the story expands to a broader collective experience. The museum’s immersive design and multimedia exhibits will place us alongside young Palmach fighters, highlighting their daily lives, training, and role in the War of Independence. By encountering both movements in this order, we will gain a deeper and more balanced understanding of the different paths taken toward the same goal. Together, these visits will strengthen our appreciation of courage, sacrifice, and the foundations of modern Israeli society.
